The Asia CIO University Network organized in 2007 has been among pioneering initiatives of IAC. The network aims for IAC members to cooperate in standardization of CIO studies and training course curricula in the Asian region and to facilitate the launching of CIO universities in IAC member economies. IAC partners in the initiative include Peking University of China, De Lasalle University of the Philippines, Bandung Institute of Technology, Graduate School of Social Informatics of Indonesia, Thammasat University of Thailand, George Mason University of USA and Waseda University of Japan. The initiative builds upon two Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation – Telecommunications (APECTEL) projects led by IAC members: Developing Model Government CIO Councils and Developing a Government CIO Training Model.
